What should I think about him?

What does it mean when your guy friend says that "May be someday our paths might cross again". Though I know its dictionary meaning but I am not sure what they try to say from guys point of view. My guy friend lives in other town so we email each other and one day he told me something like this so I am confuse on what it means...I hope it shouldn't mean that he has likings for me or anything coz I don't want anything to happen between us.
