JVC HX-D7 Speakers?!?

I have the JVC HX-D7 compact component system. The speakers have red/black and blue/black sets of wires coming from each one. Can I hook these up to another amp besides the one it came with? I can't figure out where the blue/black wires would go. I'm assuming the blue/black are the subs. any help would be appreciated. Am i screwed?
