What problem can an incorrect engine harness give?

Depends. Hx harness has a 5 wire o2 and egr wire. Ex only has 4. Hx also has a different plug design on their wire. Manifold and distributor is also different for both. You will need to know what exactly all did he swap in and also what ecu is he running.
