What do i need to do with my stock 1999 Honda civic engine before i can install a turbo?

I have a completely stock 1999 honda civic hx, 184,000 miles. i was wondering what needs to be done to this car before i can install a turbo and other performance parts, i dont want to blow it up and be out of a car.
